Logo and Branding

A collection of logo designs, including branding concepts.

Moon Donuts & Cafe - Monticello, MN

This was a personal project that I decided to do when I was searching the Internet for logos to reimagine to practice my logo design skills. I wanted to focus on small businesses since I find that they have the most potential to have fun logos.

The challenge with this project was creating a logo that stands out. While I was looking for inspiration, I found that a lot of the logos showcased a donut moon, and I didn’t want to go that route. After a few days of brainstorming, I came up with the idea of a planet donut with a bite taken out of it while a moon is orbiting it.

Papa's Sweet Tooth - Litchfield, MN

This project was done while I was in The Northway Group. We had a client looking to update her business’ logo. She wanted to go with a vintage, colorful, fun, and whimsical look. In my research, I pulled from vintage bubblegum ads.

Though the client ultimately chose to keep her logo as is, this is one of the projects I am most proud of as I feel that I looked for a different way to convey the feeling of vintage while keeping the idea fun.

River Haven Family Counseling - MN

This project was done while I was in The Northway Group. We had a client looking to have a logo created for her marriage and family therapy business. She wanted something that flowed like a river, but have simple, handwritten- looking typography. She was also keen on using royal blue and gold as her main colors.

Taking her preferences into account, I found a script font that looked like handwriting and paired it with a simple sans serif font to compliment it. The submark was created with a river in mind. I connected the r and the h to symbolize not only connection of the people going to therapy, but also how a river is connected to many other rivers. I added an open circle to encompass the letters not only for visual interest, but because the client had the tagline “health, healing, wholeness”. The reason why I chose an open circle instead of a whole circle is because therapy is a process of becoming whole again, and by having an open circle it symbolizes the person coming into therapy working to achieve that wholeness.

Although the client chose to go a different route, I enjoyed this project as I liked the challenge of finding the right font that conveyed the river aspect.

Modify - Sartell, MN

This project was done while I was in The Northway Group. The client wanted a logo for her esthetician business. She had thoughts on the logo, such as having an M within a circle and having something related to nature. She also wanted earthy/natural and green colors. As for the font, the client was looking for a legible script font that wasn’t busy or ornate. She also was open to adding a tagline to the logo.

Ultimately, I decided to not go for a circle logo because she wanted “Advanced Practice Esthetician” in the logo, and I felt that it was cleaner if it wasn’t in a circle. I also didn’t add a tagline since there were too many words in the logo already, and adding more would just make it feel like a giant text block. I did end up using a script font like she wanted, which in turn also gave the client’s business an elegant feel. I also incorporated the green and earthy tones she wanted, but I picked more muted colors to give the feeling of relaxation.
